Education in a Minority Context (05/05-09/05)
The event was organised in collaboration with Prof. Dr Olgun Akbulut. 25 participants arrived from Turkey. All are active in the fields of education and minority issues and belong to various minority groups themselves.
The seminar provided ample opportunity to learn about different approaches to education and to explore topics such as bilingualism, minority languages and the development of teaching materials. The group also visited several minority schools and the Minoritylabyrinth.
Exchange and dialogue between the visitors and the minority communities in the border region were also particularly encouraged. We invited people from the border region to an afternoon of exchange, discussion and getting to know one another. This allowed experiences to be shared directly.
This event was funded by the Ministry of General and Vocational Education, Science, Research and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
Introduction to the topic of minorities – culture, history and identity (23/06-26/06)
In June, we were visited by around 20 refugees from Ukraine who are now living in the local border region. During the four-day seminar, they not only learnt about the minorities in the border region, but also explored the minorities in Ukraine and their situations.
Discussions also covered minority policy, Ukraine’s potential accession to the EU, and topics such as education and culture in the context of minorities.
An excursion to Flensburg and the Andersen-Hüs rounded off the programme.
This event was funded by the Ministry of General and Vocational Education, Science, Research and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein.
Study trip: German-Danish-Frisian border region (01/09-05/09)
A group of visitors from Kashubia visited the German-Danish-Frisian border region in autumn. The group stayed at the North Sea Academy in Leck, as a key focus of the event was exchange with the Frisians.
The participants discussed the history and politics of the region and the Frisians. They also met representatives from the political, educational and social spheres of the minority communities. The focus was on media and the exchange of experiences. An excursion to Denmark, Flensburg and the Andersen-Hüs also took place.
